This "heroes" series was one of the most successful productions during World War II. The scripts were based on true adventures that took place on a mythical destroyer known as the HMCS Missinabi. Mercer McLeod played the captain, and the young sailor, Jack Marlowe, was played by Lloyd Bochner until he joined the real navy. At that point, the part was played by Vincent Tovell. After the war, the cast became a who's who of great radio actors--John Drainee, Austin Willis, Howard Milsom, Jack Fuller, Peggi Loder, Lister Sinclair, Francis Goffman, and Pauline Rennie. Iris Alden directed the series that aired each Thursday night, sponsored by B.A. Oil.
